3D Bolt Group Documentation

Complete reference for the 3D Bolt Group analysis tool — coordinate setup, loading inputs, and results interpretation.

Results Interpretation

The solver calculates the reaction load at each fastener required to equilibrate the applied loads.

Reaction Components

For each fastener, the following components are provided:

  • PX, PY, PZ: The reaction force vector components.
  • Shear Resultants: In-plane shear combinations (XY Shear, XZ Shear, YZ Shear).
  • Total Resultant Load: The vector magnitude of the reaction load (√(PX² + PY² + PZ²)). This is typically compared against the fastener's ultimate allowable load.
Group Properties
  • Group Centroid: The calculated center of stiffness of the bolt pattern.
  • Total Applied Forces: The summation of all applied loads, resolved about the global origin (0,0,0).
